Obituary of Dorothy D Driscoll
Attorney Dorothy D. Driscoll, of Burlington, passed away on Monday afternoon, February 24 from complications of pneumonia. She was 80 years of age.
Dorothy was the loving daughter of the late Helen, and the late Albert DeMita of Woburn, formerly of Somerville. She graduated from Somerville High School, Class of 1957. In 1961, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Jackson College, now part of Tufts University in Medford.
Dorothy taught English at Southern Junior High in Somerville, and the North Reading Junior High School. She continued her education at Salem State College, obtaining her Master’s Degree in Education in 1967.
In 1971, she enrolled in the Suffolk University Law School. She graduated in 1974, and practiced Family law in Woburn for many years. Dorothy was an avid learner, and liked nothing better than to curl up with a book; be it anything from travel to history to cooking. Her love and generosity for her family knew no bounds. She will be missed terribly.
Dorothy leaves behind her dear sister and brother-in-law Jean and Walter Dewar of Woburn; and her brother and sister-in-law Donald DeMita and his wife Carolyn of Winchester. Dorothy is also survived by her beloved niece and nephews, Lindsey Dewar of Arlington, Dr. Eric Dewar and his wife Dr. Greta Rosen of Burlington; and Nicholas DeMita of New Hampshire.
