Obituary of Steven M Peary
Steven M. Peary, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 2. He was 65 years of age.
Born in Winchester and raised in Woburn, he was one of nine children of the late Frederick C. Peary, Sr., and the late Eleanor (Johnson) Peary. Steven was a graduate of the Northeast Regional Vocational School. In his younger years, he was active in the Boy Scouts, which began his lifelong love of the outdoors.
Steven was a big-time fan of the Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. Prior to his retirement, Steven had worked as a very talented welder and carpenter, and most recently as a landscaper. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family gatherings at home in Woburn, and at the family camp in Gilmanton, New Hampshire. Steven was an active member of the VFW in Woburn, and at the Woburn Moose Lodge, and he was a proud member of the “Ice Men.”
In addition to his parents, Steven was predeceased by his three sisters, Elaine M. Allen, Christine F. Jewer, and Joanne E. Peary. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his siblings, Patricia Powers of New Mexico, Frederick C. Peary, Jr. and his wife Sheila, Eleanor Dodge and her husband Willard, Dennis Peary and his wife Carolyn all of Woburn, and Theresa Glendenning of Texas. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Robert Allen of Woburn, and Bill Jewer of Burlington; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at the Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem St., Woburn on Saturday, June 19 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Steven’s memory may be made to the Woburn Council of Social Concern, 2 Merrimac St., Woburn, MA 01801 (www.socialconcern.org) Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
