Obituary of Barbara Ann Ackerley
Barbara Ann Ackerley, of Woburn, formerly of Somerville, passed away at her home on Tuesday evening, May 12. She was 83 years of age.
Born and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Edward J., and the late Frances E. (West) Ackerley. Barbara worked as a Bank Auditor for East Cambridge Savings Bank, retiring in 2008.
Barbara was a member of the “Red Hat Society” and she enjoyed arts and crafts. She was also an avid Boston Bruins fan, and she enjoyed travelling.
Barbara is survived by her devoted brother, Edward Ackerley; and her sister and best friend Ann Ferrari, both of Woburn. In addition to her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by three brothers, the late George, John, and Jim Ackerley; and two sisters, the late Elizabeth Mulligan and the late Mary Cooper. Sister-in-law to the late Marion and Helen Ackerley and Paul (Puppy) Cooper. Also Aunt to late nephews James and Randy Ackerley, niece Jean Mulligan and Great, Great nephew Zachary Tompkins. Proud Godmother to 9 children as well as devoted Aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, Barbara’s services will be private. All will be welcome to Barbara’s memorial mass to be held at a later date.
