Obituary of Mary F Harrison

Mary F. “Mabel” Harrison, 86, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away with her sons by her side on Thursday, July 2. She was the wife of the late Hilbert G. “Hib” Harrison who died in 2002. Born and raised in County Derry, Ireland, “Mabel” as she was known to her family and friends, was the daughter of the late George, and the late Hanna (McCrea) Morrow. Mabel came to Woburn from Ireland in 1949. Attended Woburn public schools and worked for several years in Boston before she got married and raised three children. Mabel later worked at Raytheon in Burlington for 20 years prior to her retirement. She is remembered as a caring, loving, and active person, who was always ready to help someone in need. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Woburn and was an active volunteer at the Trinity Church Thrift Shop. Mabel’s door was always open, whether it was someone in need of a home-cooked meal, someone to talk to or a small gift at Christmas. Even with the losses of her daughter Cindy in 1993, and her husband Hib, Mabel continued caring for those around who needed help as this gave her great satisfaction. Mabel was also was active at the Woburn Senior Center. She loved going on the bus trips to the casinos in New Jersey and Connecticut. Mabel’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and aunt to her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her daughter, the late Cindy Harrison Rizza. She is survived by two sons, Glen G. Harrison of Burlington, and David G. Harrison of Arlington. She is also survived by her sister, Ruby Stevenson of Pelham, NH; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem St., Woburn, on Thursday, July 9 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mabel’s memory may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church, 535 Main St., Woburn, MA 01801. Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
