Obituary of Eleanor L. Clausen
Eleanor L. “Binky” (Tarbell) Clausen, 95, of Woburn, passed away after a short illness on Sunday morning, September 15. She was the wife of the late Arne Clausen who died in 2020.
Born in Cambridge and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Charles, and the late Mildred (Symonds) Tarbell. Eleanor lived in Somerville and Cambridge until making her home with Arne in Woburn in 1955.
As a young lady, Eleanor served at the former Choate Hospital in Woburn as a Volunteer Hospital Aide. She loved knitting, sewing, and arts and crafts. She also enjoyed gardening and morning coffee with her neighbors. Most of all, Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family camping, vacationing and being outdoors.
Eleanor was the wife of the late Arne Clausen. She is survived by her four children, Alan Clausen and his wife Barbara of Woburn, Eric Clausen and his wife Francine of Gloucester, Karen Piatkowski and her late husband Paul, and Lisa Clausen of Winchester. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Erica Clausen, Randi Mammino, Robyn Borsic and her husband Brock, Jill Powers and her husband Jaime; and five great grandchildren, Michael Czolpinski, Madyson and Haylee Mammino, Briella Borsic, and Leo Powers. Eleanor is also survived by one brother, Robert Tarbell and his wife Valerie of Alton, New Hampshire.
Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Thursday, September 19 from 10:00am-12:00pm, followed by a graveside service at the Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem St., Woburn at 12:30 pm.
