Obituary of José Gonzalez
José Gonzalez, 91, of Woburn, passed away April 12th 2024 having battled with complications from a stroke. His wife Janice was by his side.
Born and raised in Cuba, José’s early adulthood was marked by the upheaval of political turmoil. Alongside his family, he was forced to flee Cuba under Fidel Castro's regime, seeking refuge and opportunity in the United States. This journey instilled in him a profound appreciation for his adopted country and a steadfast belief in the principles of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. Despite the challenges of starting anew in a foreign land, José embraced his new home with unwavering determination and gratitude.
José’s passion for film, sports, and cooking mirrored his zest for life and his deep appreciation for the richness of his Cuban and American cultures. He delighted in sharing his experiences, stories, and wisdom with those around him, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
José is survived by his wife Janice Regan; his daughter Anna, and sons Manuel and Armando. He is also survived by his stepsons Jeremy Regan, and Matthew Regan and his wife Karen and their son John.
José is further survived by his brother, Roberto and family; and he was preceded in death by his brother, the late Dagoberto. He is also survived by Dagoberto's wife Carmen, and her children.
A graveside service will be held at the Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem St., Woburn on Saturday, June 22 at 12:00 Noon. Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
