Obituary of Joan L. Woodford
SERVICES POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY, JANUARY 14th DUE TO IMPENDING SNOW STORM
Joan L. (Sottong) Woodford, 96, of Woburn, formerly of South Farmingdale, Long Island, New York, passed away after a short illness on Friday, December 29, 2023. She was the wife of the late James L. Woodford.
Born and raised in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late George V., and the late Margaret J. Sottong; and she was the stepdaughter of the late James Caulfield.
Joan worked as a proof reader for several local Long Island newspapers, and retired as the head of the proof reading department for Merlin Printing in South Farmingdale, New York.
Joan had been a resident of New Horizons at Choate for the past 15 years, coming from South Farmingdale.
Joan was preceded in death by her late husband James, who died in 2007. She is survived by her three children, Steven Woodford and his wife Christine of Germany, Deborah Woodford and her husband Bruce of Woburn, and Michael Woodford of Colorado. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Kerry Woodford, Jennifer Deerr, and Scott Woodford; and two great grandchildren, Chris Woodford and Violet Deerr.
Visitation will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn and have been postponed due to the impending storm until Sunday, January 14th from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. Entombment at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY will be private. Contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
