Obituary of Janet M. Loring
Janet M Loring passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family. She was born in Woburn on August 31, 1931 to the late Charles H and Ella (Mason) Loring.
Janet attended Cushing Academy and then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology at Skidmore College. She was a biochemist at Harvard Medical School in the lab of Dr. Claude Villee and at the Whitehead Institute. She also worked in Stockholm Sweden. Janet’s work gave her unique opportunities to travel the world and make many friends.
Janet was a lifetime Yoga practitioner, a lover of the Red Sox, reading about science and history, shrimp Portofino, and her lake camp in Maine. She maintained her mother’s beautiful flower garden and volunteered at the Woburn Library. She enjoyed hosting many Christmas gatherings with family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her sister Lila M. Frizzell, her niece Karen L Frizzell Lewis & husband Larry M Lewis and her nephew Charles H Frizzell, as well as her grandnieces and grandnephews, Jonathan & Ashley Lewis, Rachel Lewis & James Patterson, Evan Lewis, Stacey Frizzell, Laura Frizzell, Jenna Frizzell, and by Janet’s live in caregiver Erica Crews.
Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Saturday morning, August 26 from 10:00-11:00 am, followed by a graveside service at the Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem St., Woburn at 11:30 am.
