Obituary of Walter E. Larsen

Walter E. “Wally” Larsen, 99, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away quietly on Monday, November 14. Wally was born to the late Christian and Marie Larsen in Woburn, Massachusetts on Veterans Day 1923. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a radar man second class during World War II. Upon returning from the war, he became a firefighter for the Woburn Fire Department for 30 years. He met his wife Edith (Craft) at their fifth year Woburn High School reunion and they were happily married for 69 years until her passing in 2017 He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brother Howard and sisters Bette and Dorothy. He will be forever cherished by his children David Larsen and his partner Janet Grove of Lincoln, NH, Barbara Orman and her husband Paul Orman of Milledgeville, GA, Paul Larsen of Greenville, ME, and Jeff Larsen and his wife Cheryl Larsen of Nashua NH; grandchildren Daniel, Christopher, Glenn, Darcie, Darla, Jennifer, Avery; great grandchildren Kylie, Asia, Brooklyn, Annabelle, Sam and Jeremiah. Wally loved his late wife and family. Before retirement, he was an active member of Montvale Congregational Church. Early in retirement he enjoyed traveling and volunteering including caddying for LPGA golfers. Later, he enjoyed playing cribbage, walking, and watching sports on TV. His friends at New Horizons at Choate Retirement Community described him as sweet and that you could hear his laughter from far away. A Memorial service is planned for Saturday December 17, 2022, at 2 pm at the Montvale Congregational Church, 36 Orange St. Woburn.
