Obituary of Dr. Leander F. Pease, III
Dr. Leander F. “Lanny” Pease, III, 84, of Stoneham, passed away after a sudden illness on Thursday, September 29. He was husband of Barbara (Gates) Pease.
Born and raised in Johnston, RI, he was the son of the late Leander F. Pease, II, and the late Gertrude (Carlson) Pease. “Lanny” as he was known to his family and friends, was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earning his ScD. He also went on to earn his MBA from Northeastern University.
Dr. Pease worked for several firms in the field of Metallurgy, until founding his own company, Powder-Tech Associates in Burlington in 1973, and later relocating to North Andover. He was a tireless and devoted worker who continued to put in many long hours at his company until just 2 weeks ago when he fell ill.
Lanny and his wife Barbara loved visiting their cottage at St. Peters Bay, Prince Edward Island when they could. He enjoyed gardening and he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Lanny is survived by two sons, Douglas Pease of Chester, NH, and David Pease and his wife L. Dawn Pease of North Andover; and he was preceded in death by one daughter, the late Jennifer “Jena” Pease. He is also survived by two grandsons, Kyle Leander Pease and Stephen Arthur Pease. Lanny is further survived by one brother, Jerre Pease, one sister, Leslie Brouwer; and he was preceded in death by one sister, the late Judy Fernald.
A funeral service will be held at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Wednesday, October 5 at 11:00 am. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday morning from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will be at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
