Obituary of John N. Haskell

John N. Haskell, of Bedford, formerly of Woburn, passed away at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital after a long illness on Saturday, November 27. He was 74 years of age. Born in Boston and raised in Lexington, he was the son of the late John N., and the late Marion B. (Hanrahan) Haskell. John was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He served on the Aircraft Carriers USS Wasp and USS Forrestal as an Aviation Electronics Technician. While serving, John traveled throughout the Mediterranean. Following his service, he went on to work as a Technician for New England Telephone, retiring after a 20+ year career. He worked and lived many years in Colorado where he enjoyed downhill skiing. John was quite fond of dogs. He kept a black lab named Jake for many years and recently cared for a friend’s dog named Bonnie, who he affectionally referred to as “Bonzo”. He enjoyed watching Football and Baseball. He was very knowledgeable about auto-mechanics and had an insatiable curiosity for all things science and mechanics. But most of all, he enjoyed good food. John is survived by one child, K Haskell of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by three sisters, Bernadette Bonfilio and her husband Lawrence of Mashpee, Marion DiBacco and her husband Joseph of Woburn, Helen Dadgar and her husband Anowsh of Lexington, and one brother William Haskell of Ashby. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Saturday December 4th from 9:00-11:00 am, followed by burial with Military Honors at the Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn.
