Obituary of Doreen L. (Hurd) Bonney

Doreen, L. (Hurd) Bonney, of Hobe Sound, Florida, formerly of Fort Pierce, FL and Rumford, RI, passed away on Thursday morning, September 30. She was 73 years of age. Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late H. Everett, and the late Alice D. (Walz) Hurd. Prior to her retirement Doreen worked as an Information Technology Manager. Doreen loved art and painting. She enjoyed music, cats, animals, traveling, and remodeling or refinishing items for the home. She found friends and fellowship at churches in White City, FL, Hobe Sound, FL, Woburn, MA, and Malden, MA. Her friends and family will miss her humor, generosity, and sense of adventure. Doreen has faced the challenges of bipolar disorder and worked through challenges in her life. Recently she enjoyed some time with her grand niece and nephew, and at Community Family Day Program in Everett, MA. In the last few years, she has struggled with her memory, but maintained her humor, faith, and a courageous spirit. Doreen is survived by one son, Brian Bonney and his wife Ana Verona of Yigo, Guam; and three grandchildren, Cameron and Thomas Bonney, and Enzo and his wife Rebekah Miranda-Verona of Norfolk VA. She is also survived by her three brothers, Wayne Hurd of Hobe Sound and his former wife Janet of FL, Mark Hurd and his wife Linda of Everett, MA, and Robert Hurd and his significant other Marty Hagen of Rainier, OR. Doreen is further survived by six nieces and nephews, Polly, Morgan, Jeremie, Deryk, Todd, and Kyle; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd. (cor. of Pleasant St.) Woburn on Wednesday evening from 5-7 pm, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm. Entombment will take place at a later date at the Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City, FL.
